From the Harvest Field

A person in a brown shirt holds a large bundle of dry grass or straw outdoors, with blurred green plants and banana trees in the background. The persons face is out of focus.

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” — The Gospel of Luke

In a region of East Africa marked by conflict, instability, and spiritual hunger, the harvest is ripe—but the path to gathering it is often dangerous.

For Abdi, this reality is part of daily life.

As a regional coordinator, Abdi’s calling is one of encouragement, discipleship, and perseverance. He regularly travels long distances to remote villages, visiting church planters and missionaries serving on the front lines of Gospel ministry. He organizes leadership trainings for seasoned pastors and disciple-makers who are equipping the next generation of indigenous leaders.

Recently, however, the challenges facing Abdi and his team have intensified.

Ongoing civil war has created fear and uncertainty throughout the region. The long distances between isolated villages make travel increasingly difficult and dangerous. Communities remain separated not only by geography, but by conflict, limited resources, and spiritual darkness.

Yet despite these obstacles, Abdi refuses to let the movement stop.

Every day at exactly 10:02 a.m., Abdi pauses to pray the words of Luke 10:2, asking the Lord of the Harvest to raise up more workers and strengthen those already serving in the field.

And God is answering those prayers in powerful ways.

A Weekend of Harvest

Just this past weekend, Abdi witnessed the fruit of these daily prayers during two separate baptism services.

In one town in the central-eastern part of the nation, 111 new believers publicly declared their faith in Jesus Christ through baptism.

In another town in the south-central region, 23 more new believers were baptized, committing their lives fully to Christ.

In one single weekend, 134 lives were transformed.

One hundred thirty-four stories of redemption.
One hundred thirty-four public declarations of faith.
One hundred thirty-four reminders that even in places marked by war, the Kingdom of God continues to advance.

Raising Up New Workers

And the harvest continues to grow.

Through faithful prayer and intentional discipleship, God is not only drawing people to Himself—He is raising up a new generation of laborers.

This year alone, Abdi has launched 30 new training centers across the region, equipping indigenous leaders for Gospel ministry and preparing them to carry the message of Christ into communities where His name is still scarcely known.

Where war and geography seem to say “impossible,” the Lord of the Harvest continues to say “forward.”

Abdi’s story is a living testimony that when believers pray at 10:02, God moves.

Prayer Requests from the Field

Safety and Protection for Harvest Workers

Please pray for Abdi and the many coordinators, missionaries, and church planters serving in areas deeply affected by conflict and political instability. Ask God to protect them as they travel dangerous roads, minister in volatile communities, and faithfully serve despite ongoing threats. Pray for supernatural peace to strengthen their hearts and protect their families.

Mobility and Resources for the Field

Many villages where new believers are emerging are remote, mountainous, and difficult to reach. Pray for the provision of motorcycles and reliable transportation for regional coordinators and field leaders, giving them safer access to isolated communities and allowing them to strengthen churches more consistently.

Open Doors in Muslim-Dominated Communities

Across this region, many communities still have little Gospel presence and remain predominantly Muslim. Pray for spiritual breakthrough. Ask the Holy Spirit to prepare hearts to receive the Gospel and to give wisdom, favor, and discernment to those sharing Christ. Pray that thriving, Christ-centered communities would be established where Jesus is not yet known.
