This testimony comes from a region where our ministry is working in collaboration to reach the 94.4% Muslim-dominated people groups. Last week, one of our leaders visited the area for training and recorded this story after hearing it firsthand. He told us, “We used to be scared to evangelize in H-town due to strong opposition from the Muslim-dominated communities. But now, three significant improvements are visible in our area, as we’ve begun to pray and work toward fruitful collaboration among strong leaders, following our DMM training.”
First, missionaries and churches have started forming intercessory teams that earnestly pray for Muslim communities. Second, many churches are now moving beyond the crowded urban areas to nearby rural centers to preach the Good News. Third, a few churches have sent missionaries into these villages. This story reflects how one missionary, together with his coworkers, set out to reach the nearby villages of H-town.
After spending significant time in prayer with the intercessory teams, the missionary and his team went out to the villages. In one village, they found a “person of peace” who welcomed them. There, two people surrendered their lives to the Lord after hearing about Jesus Christ.
The missionary explained, “We did not tell them to leave their community and come to our church. We told them to stay within their community – we would disciple them there, and they would then disciple others.”
Sometimes, when the team returns, they find that these two new believers have already persuaded a relative to join them on the discipleship journey – even though the team had only planned to disciple the original two converts.
These kinds of encounters are unimaginable, especially in the remote interior villages of H-town. We give thanks to God for the breakthrough our community has experienced through focused, faithful prayer.
