Salvation of a Street Vendor

Some of our indigenous leaders were traveling to share the gospel in a new area in Indonesia. This is where they met a street vendor named Surapati.
After talking for a while, our leaders asked Surapati about the old, unused bridge near the new bridge they used to cross into the city. He explained that the old bridge was damaged and needed to be replaced.
Using the broken bridge as an analogy, our leaders explained how our relationship with God was broken because of our sin, and then they shared the gospel of Jesus. Surapati was intrigued with their story and asked how his sins could be forgiven. They quoted Romans 10:9, and this Scripture led him to immediately accept Jesus as his Savior.
“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
Now Surapati meets weekly with our leaders to learn more about Jesus. He understands the meaning of baptism and is eager to get baptized soon.
While waiting for customers, Surapati’s life was transformed when he first heard the good news of Jesus. Continue to join us in prayer for Surapati and other believers in Southeast Asia who are eager to learn more about the gospel and grow in their relationship with Jesus.
