Rukma* was worried sick.
Her husband was in the hospital and critically ill. Rukma and her family tried everything they knew to do: pray to a traditional deity, perform a ritual, make an offering to a goddess. But nothing was working. He was still at death’s door, and the doctors had no hope for his survival.
Rukma felt empty and deeply distressed — without any hope at all.
But light entered her heart when her sister introduced her to one of our team members — we’ll call him Ravi* — who was working in her area of northeast India. Ravi visited Rukma, encouraged her with God’s Word, and prayed for her and her husband on the spot.
Ravi urged Rukma to place her trust in the living God, who is able to do great things and accomplish what seems impossible. As he shared scripture and the gospel message, Rukma felt an easing in her spirit, a peace she had never experienced before.
As the team member continued to minister to her, pray with her, and encourage her to believe that the Lord could heal her husband, Rukma wanted to know more about this Jesus Ravi was telling her about.
“I want to know this Jesus,” she exclaimed. “How can I do that?”
“Believe in Him! Trust Him!” Ravi replied. That day, Rukma prayed and placed her faith in Jesus, believing that He was able to heal her husband.
And God did what Rukma longed for — what she prayed for! Her husband is on the road to recovery, something they once thought was impossible!
Today, the entire family, including two children, has accepted the Lord and are growing in their faith. The Lord has even blessed the family with a shop that helps provide for their needs.
“I am so grateful to the Lord — and to Ravi,” Rukma recalls.
“Please pray for my husband to be restored to his full health, and pray for the rest of our family to come to a saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I want them to know the same peace we’ve found.”
