Honoring the Legacy of Ruth Finley

It is with both sorrowful hearts and grateful spirits that we share the news that our beloved Ruth Finley (93) went home to be with the Lord on the morning of June 9 surrounded by family in North Carolina.

Ruth served alongside her husband Allen who became CNEC/Partners’ first paid, full-time director in 1960. Under Allen’s leadership, the organization grew from a “one-file drawer, one-desk ministry” into a multinational, multi- partner ministry. He retired in 1987 and later returned to serve for another decade as Senior Associate/President Emeritus. He passed away in 2006.

In the early days of CNEC/Partners, Allen and Ruth traveled the country in a station wagon with their three daughters on behalf of our ministry partners. Ruth worked in the office in San Jose, California, for many years. Together, Ruth and Allen nurtured the vision of Partners, touching countless lives with the hope and joy of the Lord.

Ruth had a great passion for our partner ministries and visited many of them on the field. She was an inspirational speaker and wrote a book about the early days of CNEC/Partners titled, Living on the Crest of the Wave.

Ruth’s unwavering faith in God, compassion, and dedication have left an indelible mark on many. Her persevering spirit, profound wisdom, and ceaseless prayers have been a source of strength and encouragement to those who knew her. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel seen, heard, and loved, reflecting the heart of Jesus.

As we mourn Ruth’s passing, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she lived. We find solace in knowing that she is now in the presence of her beloved Lord, reunited with Allen, and surrounded by those who came to faith as a result of their ministry.

May we all find comfort in the promise of eternal life in Christ and the assurance that Ruth is now embraced by the everlasting love of her Lord. Please keep Ruth’s family in your prayers. May we all strive to live with the same grace, faith, and love that Ruth exemplified so well.
