A Story of Faith That Transforms Generations

Philippians 1:21 says, “For to me, life is Christ, and death is gain.” These words echo deeply in a story we want to share with you — a story of the hope of Jesus that transforms generations.

An Indonesian man, Pak Hamid, was once a man of great means, with multiple wives and children. After falling gravely ill in his old age, he found himself alone and abandoned by those he had once called family. Left to live in isolation, he seemed to have lost everything — but God had other plans.

Through divine appointment, one of our local leaders began to share the Good News with him. In those moments, he witnessed a miraculous transformation. A man who had felt abandoned by the world found belonging and purpose in Jesus. And that’s when Pak Hamid joyfully placed his faith in Jesus as his Savior.

BUT GOD DIDN’T STOP THERE

The first person Pak Hamid reached out to with the Gospel was his lifelong friend, Pak Basri, a man bedridden and paralyzed from a severe condition. Fear of death consumed him, but Pak Hamid visited him and shared his new faith and the hope found in Christ’s sacrifice.

Pak Basri’s fear was replaced with peace as he embraced faith in Jesus. Not long after, he passed away, but he did so with the assurance of salvation in Jesus.

THIS STORY DOESN’T END WITH THESE TWO

Through Pak Basri’s testimony, his son Akmal, came to faith. Today, Akmal is a believer with a growing passion to share the Gospel. He is eager to serve God and has shown incredible potential to become a future leader, bringing light to his community in Indonesia.

This is the beauty of God’s Kingdom: Even in the darkest moments of life, Jesus’ light shines brightly, transforming lives and creating legacies of faith that ripple across families and generations.

We invite you to join us in prayer as this story continues. Pray for Akmal’s spiritual growth and that he will become a strong and faithful leader in his community. Pray for this partner as they work toward the goal of planting 650 communities of Jesus followers in Indonesia by the end 2025.

Together, WE are part of God’s incredible work to bring the hope of the Gospel to those who desperately need it.
