In a small village in northern India, near the border of Pakistan, lives a woman named Mala*. She grew up in a non-Christian home and married more than ten years ago. Like many young wives in her community, she longed to have children. But as the years passed, Mala faced the painful reality of infertility.
Her heart was heavy. Every time she saw neighbors and family members blessed with children, her sorrow deepened. Though her husband tried to comfort her, nothing seemed to lift her spirits. She carried not only sadness, but also the cultural shame of being unable to conceive.
In the midst of this struggle, a friend encouraged Mala to visit one of our field workers for prayer. Desperate for hope, she went. Our worker and his wife welcomed her with warmth, encouraged her with Scripture, and shared the message of God’s love. They told Mala that Jesus sees her pain, loves her deeply, and is able to do the impossible when we put our trust in Him.
Mala listened intently. For the first time, she heard the Gospel. With faith rising in her heart, she prayed and invited Jesus into her life.
Soon after, Mala began to pray with a new hope and confidence in Christ. And then only two months later she conceived. After ten years of sorrow and waiting, God blessed her with a baby boy.
This child is more than a gift; he is a testimony of God’s power and compassion. Today, Mala joyfully shares her story, and many others in her village have been touched by her testimony of faith in Jesus.
Mala’s journey is not over. While she has found new life in Christ, her husband and extended family do not yet know the Lord. Please join us in praying that her whole household will come to faith. We also ask you to lift up our those evangelizing in northern India. This region, situated along a sensitive border, presents many challenges. Yet God has been faithful to protect our field worker and his family as they share the Good News.
Mala’s story reminds us of this truth: God is good all the time. Even in places of deep sorrow, even when hope feels lost, He is able to bring life, joy, and transformation. May we continue to pray, give, and partner together to see more lives like Mala’s forever changed by the power of the Gospel.
