Discipleship Through War Time

“Times are hard,” said our partner leader in the Holy Land. “But our Christian brothers and sisters in Gaza tell us, as they shelter in a church with tanks right outside, that the Lord is their refuge. Truly, we are experiencing God in amazing ways.”

During this time of war, ordinary families are suffering. The closure of the tourist industry coupled with restrictions on movement left hundreds of families without income. Taxi drivers lost their jobs. Restaurants closed. Many businesses shut down. But over the months, our leaders continue to bless families with food, milk for babies, medicines, and warm blankets and heaters in the winter.

Partner leaders continue to minister to people in Gaza, but mostly online since in-person is not possible. Isaac, a believer whose wife is about to deliver their baby, said that the prayers strengthen him, and he is thankful for the Lord’s work in his life.

UPLIFTING OUTREACHES
The ministry hosts different types of small groups to most effectively do ministry in the Holy Land. A women’s group has grown to 20 ladies who meet weekly. They are learning about the power of prayer and putting it into practice daily.

A soccer group was started where the youth meet for devotions and discussion before having fun playing soccer. During a recent devotion time, leaders asked the youth where they stand with God. Many young people said they were very far from God. For some, this was the first time they sat and discussed faith topics from the Bible. The young guys form a stronger relationship together and freely ask questions about God. Praise the Lord for this opportunity to reach out to those who don’t go to church and are away from God.

Other ministry programs include “Connect Kids” and “Connect Teens” which meet in five locations. Several hundred children and teens are discipled each week to impact their communities with the Gospel. A “Connect Café” provides a safe space for people to come, fellowship, and learn about the Lord.

The ministry leader said, “Many people in the Holy Land are full of fear and anxiety. I do not know how the problems in my country will be solved. However, I do know the only One who can solve them, Emmanuel, Jesus. That’s why we devote ourselves to making Him known in as many ways that we can. We thank the Lord for our biggest blessing – all you who stand with us in prayer and who support the ministry.”

Please pray for peace in the Holy Land and for a de-escalation of violence.
